Ms. Patel has lived in the U.S. since she was 11 years old (her family came from England by way of Africa by way of India). She earned her business administration and law degrees from the University of Tennessee, and she has practiced immigration law in Knoxville, Tennessee since 1996.

Anita Patel is a member of American Immigration Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association and the Knoxville Bar Association. She is an active member of the East Tennessee Law Association for Women (ETLAW), and she was appointed by the Knoxville Bar Association to sit on the board of directors for the Legal Aid of East Tennessee.
